THE PROBLEM
America is ranked 36th in the world for producing high-quality high school diplomas.
Only half of Californian students meet English proficiency standards. Even less meet math standards.
In the US, 33% of teachers leave within their first 3 years, almost 50% leave after 5 years.
"WE MUST MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME."
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona wants to challenge our district leaders.
"Give every child that fell behind during the pandemic," he said during his Jan 2022 address, "at least 30 minutes per day, 3 times a week with a well-trained tutor to provide consistent, intensive support."
OUR SOLUTION
Every member of our board was and is a tutor, and we all passionately believe in changing making an impact on education in San Diego. Recent studies suggests that high-dosage tutoring greatly affects educational outcome and many education researchers are now urging the US to invest specifically in high-quality one-on-one tutoring. Since the pandemic, learning loss has never been more prevalent. And thus there has never been a greater need for a helping hand.
